The Madness of Modernism's Internal and Infernal Contradictions

During the days after Vatican II, a certain "madness" set in the Conciliar Church as a result of Modernism. This Mod-ernist madness infected the Vatican II Church and afflicted the Catholic faithful who were reeling from the constant con-tradictions inherent in Modernist philosophy and practice. For example: After Paul VI ruled artificial birth control was morally evil, 40 priests in the Washington DC archdiocese published a public protest in The Washington Post declaring they would not obey Paul VI's encyclical Humanae vitae. When the Archbishop of Washington DC suspended them all for their public defiance, the 40 clergymen appealed to - of all people - Paul VI to support them. Paul VI then ordered Archbishop O'Boyle to revoke the suspension and to reinstate the 40 priests to good standing. Indeed, when so many priests were being rewarded for defying the law and defiling the faith, it seemed that madness ruled in the Vatican.

Contradiction is a form of madness, and it is inherent in Modernism. We see it clearly today when the Communist Party of China freely produces its own "Catholic" bishops and the Modernists in the Vatican simply acquiesce, while excommunicating those who consecrate traditional bishops who profess the Catholic faith. We see the contradiction when the Modernists in the Vatican proclaim the natural "infinite dignity" of every "immigrant" when they are promoting mass "immigration" to the nations of the West, but they say not a word about the dignity of the innocent citizens of those nations who are cruelly murdered by those "immigrants".

That contradiction is evident in the very root of the Modernist program. Throughout the 1970's, the constant cry of the Modernists was for "aggiornamento," that is, bring the Church up to date, to make the Church "relevant" to the modern world. At the very same time, the Modernists pledged to restore "primitive Christianity." They pretended they could recreate "the primitive church" by de-mythologizing the Catholic Church's beliefs and worship. Saint Pius X explained in the 1907 encyclical Pascendi the Modernists' teaching that the early disciples of Jesus first "transfigured" Him by attributing to Him miraculous powers, then "disfigured" the memory of Him by making Him into God - thus transforming "the Jesus of history" into "the Christ of faith." The Modernist sees no contradiction in "modernizing" the Church by resurrecting "the primitive church," as though stripping away Our Lord's divinity and reducing Him to an ordinary mortal man thereby makes Him acceptable to so-called "modern man." No wonder Saint Pius X warned that Modernism leads to the destruction of all faith and all true religion. There can be no legitimate compromise between Catholicism and Modernism, between the practice of the Catholic faith and the New Order, which is the practice - the religion - of Modernism.
